Introduction
Shapoorji Pallonji, a pioneer in the construction industry with over 159 years of legacy, has always been at the forefront of innovation. Yet, the scale and complexity of its projects brought challenges. Multiple concurrent activities often created data silos, making it difficult for teams to access critical information at the right time. Traditional reporting methods and manual data handling led to delays, inefficiencies, and errors, slowing down decision-making and affecting project predictability. The company recognized the need for a digital-first approach to transform how project data was collected, processed, and shared among stakeholders.

Breaking the Silos of Traditional Project Management
To address these challenges, Shapoorji Pallonji set out to modernize its project management practices with a strong focus on digitization. The objectives were to streamline project delivery through connected platforms, improve collaboration by making 3D models and project information available to field engineers on mobile devices, and enhance decision-making through data-driven insights. Another key goal was to ensure financial predictability with accurate reporting and progress tracking, while minimizing risks and errors through BIM-based takeoff and visualized reporting tools.
The Digital Blueprint for
Faster Delivery
Shapoorji Pallonji partnered with 5D VDC Services and adopted Autodesk Construction Cloud to implement a comprehensive digital project management solution. Engineers gained real-time access to structural drawings and project data directly on their mobile devices, reducing dependence on paper-based workflows. BIM-based quantity takeoff using Assemble enabled automated and accurate measurements, significantly reducing manual effort and discrepancies. The solution also integrated Power BI with BIM data, creating dashboards that provided clear visibility into project progress, costs, and risks. Automated progress tracking and billing, supported by linking model elements to cost codes, streamlined financial reporting and improved overall transparency.

“Overall, as Shapoorji Pallonji, we believe these digitisation efforts will help us in improving the way we deliver projects and create value for all stakeholders. With Autodesk Construction Cloud coming in, there were very few partners who could understand both the product and the industry - 5D VDC was one of them.”

The Payoff of Data-Driven Construction
The digital transformation delivered measurable benefits across project delivery. Enhanced data flow improved predictability and efficiency, while automation reduced manual work and enabled faster reporting cycles. BIM-based takeoff ensured accuracy in project quantities, minimizing costly errors. With dashboards offering real-time visibility, management teams could make more informed, data-driven decisions, reducing both design and construction risks. Integrated billing and progress reporting strengthened financial control and improved transparency across stakeholders.
Building Tomorrow with Technology and Trust
Shapoorji Pallonji’s digital journey highlights how even legacy construction companies can successfully reimagine project delivery with the right technology and expertise. By combining Autodesk Construction Cloud with the industry knowledge of 5D VDC Services, the company transitioned from traditional workflows to a fully digital, data-driven approach. This shift has not only improved efficiency and accuracy but also enhanced stakeholder value across every stage of project execution.
